Glenn Church: District 2 Board of Supervisors

Glenn believes that transparency and accessibility are not slogans. They are obligations. Over the past three years, he has held more than three dozen community meetings and town halls across the district, meeting people where they live and work, listening directly, and bringing those voices into county decision-making. He met with CEMA/OE3, heard our issue, and shared it with other Supervisors and County Executives in a closed session. Glenn believes government works best when it is present, accountable, and open, and we are proud to endorse Supervisor Church for another term on the Board of Supervisors for District 2.

This Saturday, May 30th, from 9 to noon, we will be doing a literature drop at the Creekbridge Village parking lot (1508 Constitution Blvd) starting at 9 am. If you're interested in joining us, RSVP by using this link, and we look forward to seeing you out there.

Chris Lopez: District 3 Board of Supervisors

Chris holds that the priority of County Government needs to be the security, safety, and well-being of every one of our neighbors; the promotion, growth, and sustainability of local businesses; and the provision of the best possible customer service by the county and its agencies to the communities we serve.

Time and again, Supervisor Lopez has been a champion for CEMA/OE3 in Monterey County. As a former X unit member, he has always been willing to meet and discuss the issues at hand, offering candid, trustworthy feedback. That's the kind of collaboration we need to advocate for your issues, your work experience, your pay, and benefits. For all these reasons, we proudly endorse Supervisor Lopez to continue serving as a member of the Board of Supervisors representing District 3.

Burcu Mousa: Auditor-Controller

Pronounced: “Bour-joo,” Burcu Mousa, CPA, is a public finance leader with 16+ years of experience protecting taxpayer dollars through governmental accounting, auditing, financial reporting, and internal controls. She served the County of Monterey (the County) as Assistant Auditor-Controller (2019–2025) and, previously, as Chief Deputy Auditor-Controller (2016–2019), providing executive oversight across core functions, including general accounting, disbursements, internal audit, and financial systems.

Burcu knew it would be important to meet with Labor as she started her campaign, and CEMA/OE3 was one of the first organizations she reached out to. We met with Burcu and asked her tough questions about how she would address recent oversights that have come to light in the Auditor-Controller office, as well as the declining workplace morale. She impressed us with her knowledge of current events and promised to have an open and transparent workplace for all if elected. She also agreed to meet with CEMA/OE3 representatives to hear our issues and form a lasting collaboration should she win. For all these reasons and more, we strongly endorse Burcu Mousa as Monterey County's next Auditor-Controller.

Burcu is also seeking volunteers to help with door-knocking.  We're meeting this Saturday at the Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey (1410 Del Monte Center) at 10 am, and this Sunday at Seaside, in the Chili's parking lot (1349 Canyon Del Rey) at 10 am. If you're interested in helping, please email Burcu here and mention that you're a CEMA member and will be there.
